Between 29 April to 7 May 2022, Bodhi Meditation Singapore held the 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat. Out of the 50 odd participants, one-third of them were recommended by friends and family. They joined the retreat for the first time with the aim to improve their health and mental well-being. The rest of the attendees were past participants who had benefited from meditation and were attending the retreat again. This was the first retreat conducted by the centre after two years of the pandemic and all the participants were full of anticipation and excitement!

The Benefits of Meditation

Meditation can help to cleanse both the body and mind, enabling us to cultivate better energy and benefit our health in many ways. Meditation can also help to develop and enrich one’s wisdom and intuition, enhancing our overall ability.

Introducing the Retreat

No meditation experience is required, and one will get to learn meditation systematically at this retreat: The Meditation of Greater Illumination (GI) and The Meditation of Purity are simple methods which spark a quick energy boost, transforming health physically and mentally. Participants would get to listen to Grandmaster JinBodhi’s teachings to understand the energy of compassion, elevate self-cultivation, improve personal relationships, and elevate mental state.

Participants’ Benefits

Through a few days of the meditation practice, the bodily aches and pain of the participants began to ease, and their heart began to open up and brighten. Some participants were pleasantly surprised by their own benefits: “My pain has subsided!”, “My eyesight has improved!”, “I look healthier!”, “My temper is better now!”. The miraculous effect of meditation helps to reinforce the participants’ confidence and dedication in the practice.

On the sixth and seventh days of the retreat, many participants enthusiastically shared their transformation with looks of gratitude on their faces.

Participant’s Sharing #1

Lim Kok Hin: Prior to learning meditation, I used to have poor eyesight and could not see the bus numbers clearly. I also used to kick up a big fuss over small matters. After the retreat, my eyesight improved, and I could see the bus numbers clearly now. I have also learnt to take things in stride and not be too bothered with the unpleasant encounters in life.

Lim Mui Hong: Previously, I experienced back and neck aches as well as tightness on my right cheek. Whenever I bent down, my head would also hurt. I was often in an irritable mood. After meditation, my right cheek no longer felt tight, and my headache was gone. The pain in my back and neck had also subsided. My temperament improved, and I learnt to speak nicely to my children.

Ong Chon Eng: I used to suffer from insomnia and could only sleep two to three hours daily. My knees also hurt a lot (I had to literally drag my feet along to come to class). Since the first day of the retreat, I had been able to sleep for seven to eight hours daily. After the third day of the retreat, the pain in my knee vanished and I could walk with ease now.

Tan Cheng Hiang: As a repeat student, I benefited a lot from the retreat. I now understand that the meditation methods taught by the Grandmaster JinBodhi are like a master key, which can unlock all the shackles in my heart, and I also understand the importance of continuous practice. Grandmaster JinBodhi’s energy blessing also relieved the pain in my body. After the energy blessing, I felt much more relaxed.
