On 15 April to 23 April 2023, 41 participants participated in the 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat conducted in English and embarked on a journey towards regaining their health and happiness. Through the meditation practices and teachings by Grandmaster JinBodhi, many students experienced an improvement in their health and well-being and emerged from the retreat with renewed vitality and a newfound sense of happiness and joy.

Doris Lim Mui Kek: With meditation, I can now effectively combat work-related stress!

I joined the meditation class out of curiosity, hoping to find a way to relax and alleviate the work stress that had consumed me as a self-proclaimed workaholic. I felt unable to unwind and often found myself frustrated and agitated.

During this retreat, I experienced a significant increase in energy levels, which has had a profound impact on my overall well-being. The newfound energy brought about a sense of happiness and I feel more relaxed physically and mentally. I find myself more calm and composed, and my ability to think clearly has greatly improved, enabling me to approach tasks and challenges with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

Another area of my life that has notably improved since practising meditation is my sleep quality. Previously, I would wake up two to three times during the night and struggle to fall back asleep. However, after attending this retreat, my night wakes have reduced to just once, and I am now able to effortlessly return to sleep within minutes. As a result, I wake up feeling refreshed and revitalised, without the burden of tiredness weighing me down.

Additionally, practising meditation has had a transformative effect on my self-confidence, particularly when it comes to speaking. I had always been someone who shied away from excessive talking and often found myself at a loss for words. However, thanks to the meditation retreat, I have gained newfound confidence and can now engage with customers and communicate my thoughts and ideas with ease.

Having discovered the power of meditation, I now have a powerful tool at my disposal to combat work-related stress. I am deeply grateful to Grandmaster JinBodhi for introducing me to these meditation methods that have not only alleviated my stress and worries but have also brought a sense of gratitude and contentment into my life. Bodhi Meditation has become an integral part of my journey towards my personal growth and well-being.

Lin Pei Rong: Meditation has significantly reduced my knee pain!

In October 2022, I began experiencing knee pain that affected my ability to walk properly, causing me to feel unstable and at risk of falling. On a scale of one to ten (with ten being extreme pain), my pain was a five. The doctor diagnosed the pain as a result of a lack of collagen in my knee and prescribed painkillers and plasters, but these treatments did not solve my problem.

Not wanting to rely on painkillers, I decided to consult a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctor who identified water retention as the cause of my problem. The TCM doctor recommended acupuncture, which I tried but it did not provide relief. The doctor suggested that I incorporate walking into my routine and it was during my walks around the neighborhood that I discovered people practising Energy Bagua, and I decided to join them.

In January 2023, I attended the Energy Bagua Elementary Class. Remarkably, on the fourth day of the class, I noticed an improvement in my knee pain. I was so thrilled that I even chased after a bus without experiencing any pain!

Encouraged by my progress, I took up a suggestion by a fellow Energy Bagua practitioner to attend the 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat. At the beginning of the retreat, I had to sit on a chair due to my knee pain. However, after a few days, I was able to walk well and even sit on the floor comfortably. Kneeling had been difficult for me, particularly when doing my prayers at home. However, after six days at the retreat, I noticed that I could kneel down with significantly less discomfort. I even demonstrated my newfound ability to the entire class, showcasing my ease of kneeling and getting up. The intensity of my pain decreased to two (on a scale of one to ten) following the retreat, and I could not be happier and more grateful to Grandmaster JinBodhi.

For the past decade, I had been waking up one to two times per night to use the bathroom, and I was a light sleeper easily disturbed by noise. However, after the retreat, my night wakes ceased, and I began enjoying deep, uninterrupted sleep throughout the night.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Grandmaster JinBodhi for teaching us these meditation methods that have played a crucial role in improving my overall health and well-being.

Thng Siew Kuan: Say goodbye to pain in my arms, back and foot!

Before attending the retreat, I had been enduring a lot of pain in both my arms, my entire back, and my left foot for the past six months. Each morning, I struggled to get out of bed immediately due to the tightness and intense pain in my back. I had to gradually stretch my back and spend about fifteen minutes resting before attempting to get up. The pain in my arms was equally severe, making it impossible for me to reach over my neck to button my clothing. Additionally, in November and December of 2017, my left foot was accidentally run over by a taxi on two separate occasions. As it only momentarily went numb and did not cause significant bruising or immediate discomfort, I didn’t pay much attention to my foot at that time due to my busy schedule. However, by last June, I began to notice that my left foot hurt whenever I touched it. The pain gradually worsened, making it difficult for me to climb the stairs since last November. The constant ache in my arms, back, and left foot left me feeling frustrated and in agony.

After attending this retreat, I am delighted to share that the pain in my arms and back has significantly reduced by 70%! Now I can effortlessly stretch my arms over my neck to button my clothing, which was once a painful ordeal. On four out of seven days each week, I can get out of bed immediately upon waking up without experiencing any backache. On the remaining days, I only need to spend five minutes stretching my back before getting up. Furthermore, the pain in my left foot has completely vanished, allowing me to walk up and down the stairs easily once again! I feel incredibly blessed and grateful to Grandmaster JinBodhi.

Emily Ho Yin Ping: Meditation helped to alleviate my sensitive skin problems and improved my sleep quality

I had been struggling with sensitive skin since 2013. Whenever I spent time in the sun, my skin would easily become sunburnt and swollen. Typically, I would need to take prescription medication for approximately three weeks for the swelling to subside.

Just before the 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat, I experienced sunburn from taking my grandchild out. To my surprise, after only three days of practising the Meditation of Greater Illumination during the retreat and applying natural oils to the sunburnt skin, the sunburnt area healed quickly, and I did not require any medication.

For the past one to two months, I had also been suffering from insomnia due to the itchiness from my sensitive skin, often only managing to sleep for one to two hours a night. However, from the second day, of this retreat, I experienced significant improvements in my sleep. I was able to fall asleep faster and found myself sleeping for around five hours each night. The quality of my sleep also greatly improved, leaving me with abundant energy even after taking care of my grandchild.

I am very grateful to Bodhi Meditation and Grandmaster JinBodhi for helping me with my sensitive skin issues and insomnia. The teachings and practices have made a remarkable difference in improving my overall well-being.
