An 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat conducted in English was held for the second time this year from 6 – 14 August 2023. A total of 37 participants attended this retreat to improve their health and well-being through the meditation practices and teachings of Grandmaster JinBodhi.

I developed severe depression during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period. I had a good job and was financially comfortable, but I could not control my mood swings. I used to experience panic attacks at night. I would feel very anxious and scared and could not sleep well. I went to a doctor and took various tests but was only told that my blood glucose level was high. When I heard about this 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat conducted in English, I immediately signed up.

During the first few days of the class, my mind was in a whirl, preoccupied with my job matters. While practicing The Meditation of Bone Melting, I felt all my pent-up emotions about work released. During one of the energy blessing sessions in which there were drumming and scraping sounds, I felt sensations on the right side of my brain, as though someone was using a ball of steel wool to scrub and clean the inside of my head. It stopped when the session was over and I felt very relaxed after that.

I find that I can better handle my son’s tantrums after I attended the retreat. The meditation techniques have helped me to relax, calm down, and find inner peace. I do not feel nervous or anxious anymore.

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, I gained a lot of weight and developed cracked and painful lips After practicing the The Meditation of Greater Illumination during this retreat, my lips are no longer dry and cracked.

I had been having shoulder pains which were not resolved despite receiving Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments. During one of the energy blessing sessions, I experienced some pain in my shoulders, but after the session ended, the pain has reduced by sixty percent!

After watching Grandmaster Jin Bodhi’s YouTube videos on healthy recipes, I decided to try it out. Over a period of seven months, I lost ten kilograms by eating regularly, drinking the Bodhi Slimming Smoothie everyday, and following Grandmaster JinBodhi’s healthy recipes to prepare my meals. I am very thankful to Grandmaster!

Yin Li Xia: Regained strength and mobility

This is my third time attending this retreat. Each retreat has been a milestone in my healing process. Three years ago, I sustained nerve damage from a treatment, which manifests as hypersensitivity on the soles of my feet and can be very painful when I am standing or walking. Therefore, attending the first retreat was the first time I had gone out for nine consecutive days in over three years, and was a big achievement for me.

I attended the first retreat wearing infrared treatment armbands on my elbows and infrared treatment knee bands. At that time, I had a lot of difficulty getting up and sitting down. During the retreat, I regained the ability to stand on my feet and attained a greater range of mobility and physical strength.  I never needed to use the armbands or knee bands again after the first retreat. Getting up and sitting down was much easier, smoother, and less painful. The pain in my feet was also much reduced.

During the second and third retreat, I regained more physical strength and range of mobility. After each retreat, I found I was able to better manage the pain and exhaustion. I am now able to go out daily if needed, which was unthinkable before I started meditation! I am so grateful to Grandmaster JinBodhi for helping me to regain my health!

Nihal: My life has meaning again!

I suffered a stroke in October 2019 which caused me to suffer from vocal cord paralysis. Despite undergoing speech therapy, my speech was still slurred and it affected my social life since most people could not understand what I said. After the stroke, I also developed an allergy to gluten found in wheat flour. Whenever I consumed food like bread, cakes and biscuits, I would end up with a stomach upset. Thus, I felt that life was meaningless and had no energy to get up in the morning. I felt as if I was out of tune with life; I found myself unable to think and act logically and this was unnerving to me as a trained pilot and navigator. 

During this Health and Happiness Retreat, I found that I can eat biscuits again! I can also eat bread and food that contains wheat flour in moderate amounts without suffering any side effects. There has also been a marked improvement in my speech. I am so thankful and glad that I can interact well with the other students in this retreat. This retreat has, to a great extent, helped me regain control of my body, mind and spirit! Gratitude to Grandmaster JinBodhi for teaching these meditation methods which helped me find meaning in life again!
